All about U — and Boulder County

Franklin Alexander, 3, and Beatrix Alexander, 7, work on decorating their wooden U’s. They are the children of Mircalla Wozniak, the communications spokeswoman for the Boulder County Clerk’s office.

The Boulder County Clerk’s office went all out when it came time to decorate a wooden U. Or two. Or three. Or more.

Clerk Hillary Hall decorated one U. Election data specialist Alonna Crotzer put her touch on another U. And spokeswoman Mircalla Wozniak’s two kids, Beatrix and Franklin, each decorated one.

Beatrix pulled double duty. She also starred in a wonderful video narrated by her mother that featured two corgis, two desserts and two stuffed animals. But she could only pet or pick one — just like unaffiliated voters.

Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams handed out the U’s as part of the UChooseCO campaign to help inform  unaffiliated voters that for the first time they can participate in Colorado’s primary elections, which is being held today.

The campaign is also reminding unaffiliated voters if they get both the Republican and Democratic ballot in the mail to only vote one. If they vote both, neither will count.

The UChooseCO campaign has a web pageFacebook page, a Twitter account and its own hashtag, #UChooseCO. Check out more decorated U’s on Facebook and Twitter and this blog.
